Five of the most common concerns for those in or planning their retirement.

ISSUE 1
When can I retire?
Maybe you're ready to stop now or maybe you just want the date in the diary so you can start to picture this new phase of your life. Having taken a forensic look at all aspects of your finances we'll use powerful cash flow planning tools to give you the answer to your question. We can model different scenarios and strategise if you want to get there sooner.
ISSUE 2
Do I have enough money to retire?
These days people conceive of retirement in all sorts of different ways. We'll start by helping you work out what your version of ideal looks like. Then we conduct scrupulous analysis of your existing arrangements, precisely calculate the tax consequences of drawing from each of your assets and undertake sophisticated cash flow planning to model various scenarios. You'll know precisely how much you're going to have and get the reassurance you need.
ISSUE 3
Will I run out of money?
Giving up work is scary and income security is a big concern for most people at the end of their working life. Forensic analysis and sophisticated cash flow modelling will give you confidence about your retirement income. You will get a personalised retirement income plan, which we will update each year as part of our service to you.
ISSUE 4
Can I avoid losing my money to tax?
Tax planning can be a complex area, requiring expertise and ongoing management. We can identify which of your assets would be most advantageous to withdraw from and when. We formulate an income strategy as part of your personalised retirement income plan. We'll continue to monitor and adjust throughout retirement to respond to changes in taxation, the legal landscape and your personal circumstances.
ISSUE 5
Help. Do I take a lump sum or more income?
This decision is important and can have long term implications. Identifying the right mix of tax-free cash and income can feel like a pressing matter; particularly if you've got a workplace pension that offers a defined income along with the option to take a bigger lump sum and reduce your income. Using the best tools available, we'll model the different scenarios, discuss implications and align the options with your goals for retirement. You'll be in a position to make a confident decision that's right for you.

“Retirement used to mean two withered old people sat in their garden for 10 years. Why can’t retirement happen at 45 and last 40 years. If you love your work why retire at all. The point is it can look however you want it to and I love helping make this a reality.”

FAQ

Your questions answered

We’re here to help with any questions or doubts you might have. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, reach out to us via email or WhatsApp and we’ll gladly answer.
I've self-managed my portfolio for my whole life but coming up to retirement, I feel like I need support. Does this mean giving up all control?
You' re always in the driving seat and we're your co-pilot, spotting issues and opportunities that you may not be aware of. How much of the workload you hand over to us to do is entirely up to you and will naturally change over time.
I've already started taking benefits from my pensions, can you help?
Yes, definitely. If you've taken a DIY approach so far, there may be some complexities overlooked such as triggering the Money Purchase Annual Allowance, cash versus income, using other assets first for tax planning. Even if all that has been done beautifully, we can take responsibility for your finances so you can get on with living.
I am looking to retire in the next three to six months, is it realistic that you can help me structure my retirement income plan?
There are lots of complexities and legacy pension providers involved in retirement so we would ideally get this started at least six months prior to your ideal retirement date. Starting three months out is pushing it but get in touch now and lets see what we can do; it's not out of the question depending on the specifics.
I've had some retirement advice already, can you help?
Most independent Chartered Financial Planners who deal with retirement are competent professionals. That said, given our specialist pension qualifications, we'd be happy to give you a second opinion on advice you've received in this area.
How do you charge?
Our fees are based on the complexity of your situation and the scope of work we agree. We undertake a fair value assessment before engaging with a new client. Our fair value guarantee means that our fees will always be fair, proportionate and offer excellent value or we won't work with you.
“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count; it’s the life in your years.”
